2011 Wrap-Up

posted Dec 27, 2011 1:53 PM by Danville ATA
2011 Was a fantastic year for Kruger's ATA.  April brought us expansion when we purchased Thomas Martial Arts in Decatur, Illinois and also began teaching an affiliate program at the Danville YMCA. That same month the Danville school turned 100 students! In June Mrs. Kruger earned her 3rd Degree Black Belt, and in August Mr. Bob became 2011 Illinois State Champ in Mens 50-59 Sparring & Form Divisions. September brought us two Specialty Certified Instructors with Mrs. Hagley and Ms. Makayla Peterson collaring up. October brought us our first tournament in Decatur which challenged us all-but we were successful and had a lot fo fun.  Fall brought us five additional instructors with Corey Ireland, Cheryl Ireland, Shawn Miller, Nicholas Miller, and Sebastian Miller joining our Trainee Instructor Staff. It also brought us a very busy season with Mrs. Kruger teaching Bullying Prevention at several local schools, and Life Skills Classes once a month with the Danville Peer Court Program. And of course December brought us a wonderful ATA family holiday party, and a fabulous Pre-Christmas testing with 4 new First Degree Black Belts being added to the ranks.

2012 is looking to be even better!  Two additional individuals were asked to become Trainee Instructors and will be posted shortly.  January will bring our first in-school Collar Camp with 5 instructors attempting to earn their Certified Trainee collars.  In February we take 3 more to the rank of 1st Degree, and in April another to 2nd Degree. Mrs. Kruger has also signed on to teach an after-school program at a local D118 school from Jan-Mar, and in April we hope to launch an XMA class.  Keep watching the website & newsletters for details.
